Orthodontic treatment averages less than two years, but can range from one to three years. When “active” treatment ends, retainers are prescribed for patients to keep teeth in their new positions. This treatment can be accomplished with traditional metal braces, clear braces or clear aligners.
The goal of orthodontic treatment is:
- A proper relationship of teeth and jaws, so that they work correctly
- Correct alignment of the teeth for a beautiful smile
- Positioning of the teeth and jaws for an attractive face and profile
Services:

Traditional Braces
Traditional braces use stainless steel brackets and archwires to move your teeth into their proper position. Many kids and teenagers like to decorate their braces with
different colored rubber bands to give them a colorful and unique smile. You can choose a new color (or colors) during every adjustment!

Clear Braces
Some teens and adults may be reluctant to get the orthodontic care they need due to the appearance of metal orthodontic appliances. That’s why we offer clear braces,
which are much less noticeable than metal braces, but still give patients a smile they deserve. Treatment results with clear braces are just like those treated with metal braces, but the clear braces are almost invisible.

Invisalign
Invisalign® is a modern alternative treatment to braces. Now, you can straighten your teeth without having to wear braces. Instead, we use clear plastic trays (also known as aligners) to move your teeth into position. Each aligner is custom designed by your orthodontist to fit you and move your teeth into the proper alignment for your diagnosis and treatment plan.

Invisalign For Teens
Many teenagers are have malocclusions that need to be corrected. However, the thought of going through high school with braces may be your teen’s worst nightmare. Luckily, Invisalign Teen® is an ideal option for many patients. Your teenager can get the smile that he or she deserves without metal wires and brackets.

Early Treatment
Two-phase orthodontic treatment consists of two separate times when a child receives orthodontic treatment. A first phase of treatment is done while the child still has many or most of their primary or “baby” teeth. A second phase takes place when the child has most or all of their permanent teeth.
A first phase of treatment is initiated to:
- Prevent a problem from developing (preventive treatment)
- Intercept a developing problem (interceptive treatment)
- Guide the growth of the jaw bones that support the teeth (growth modification)
The treatment will be timed to predictable stages of dental development to provide the greatest potential for improvement and correction of your child’s malocclusion (bad bite).
Most patients will require a second phase of treatment, with braces or Invisalign, to complete the tooth and jaw alignment that was started during the first phase of treatment and finalize the position of the teeth.

Adult Treatment
Here at Seaside Smiles, we work hard to give you the smile you’ve always wanted. We offer several different treatments that can be effective no matter how old you are. More and more orthodontic treatments are becoming available to give adults the smile that they want. We offer Invisalign, clear braces or metal braces for adults too. Today, one out of every five orthodontic patients is an adult. You’re never too old to benefit from orthodontic treatment. No matter what your age, proper alignment of teeth contributes to your good health and a beautiful smile.

Surgical Orthodontics
Oral and maxillofacial surgery is considered a dental specialty and helps complex cases involving the mouth, jaw, face, and skull. If your case requires surgical orthodontics, your orthodontist will work with an oral and maxillofacial surgeon to provide you with the best and most comprehensive care possible.

Retention
After you have worn your braces for the appropriate amount of time, we move into the retention stage of your treatment. It is VERY important not to skip this step, or all of your hard work will not pay off as you had hoped. Your teeth may shift around or move back to where they were instead of staying in place.
